400 lights were illuminated along the edges of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool to represent the 400,000 American COVID-19 victims.
“To heal, we must remember," said Biden. "It’s hard sometimes to remember, but that’s how we heal. It’s important to do that as a nation - that's why we're here today. From sunset until dusk, let us shine the lights in the darkness along the sacred pool of reflection and remember all who we lost.”
The same day, lights were lit up at venues across the US and the bells of the National Cathedral tolled 400 times to honor those Americans who have died from COVID-19, the most devastating American tragedy in a century.
