Johnson & Johnson becomes 4th US company to begin final-stage testing of COVID-19 vaccine
(VOVWORLD) - Johnson & Johnson, a healthcare company, announced Wednesday it is launching a large-scale phase-3 trial of its coronavirus vaccine, becoming the fourth company to do so in the US. Trials for the single-dose vaccine will enroll up to 60,000 adult volunteers in the US and several other countries, including Brazil and South Africa.

The company said it expects to have a result from the trials by early next year, which could lead to government authorization of the vaccine for emergency use soon afterwards.
Johnson & Johnson is collaborating with the UK on a separate phase-3 clinical trial that will test a two-dose regimen of the vaccine in multiple countries.
