Joyous New Year festivals

(VOVworld) – On the 4th day of the New Year, tens of thousands of pilgrims come to Phat Tich pagoda in Bac Ninh province to attend the Peony festival to pray for peace and prosperity. Phat Tich pagoda is considered the cradle of Vietnamese Buddhism and the place where Indian Buddhist missionary monks first came to Vietnam.

The Dong Ky firecracker festival Bac Ninh province also attracted thousands of visitors. The villagers produce two huge corrugated iron firecrackers painted with the images of the dragon, unicorn, tortoise, and phoenix. Although the two firecrackers are imitation, the procession upheld the traditional rituals of the original festival.

The Ba Mount festival and a meeting for overseas Vietnamese was held in Tay Ninh province on Monday. The annual festival took place at the Ba Den national tourist site until the first full moon of the Year.

The Flower and Book Streets in Ho Chi Minh city welcomed more than 1.5 million visitors during Tet.
