(VOVWORLD) - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev begins a 3-day official visit to Vietnam on Sunday.

In an interview with the Vietnam News Agency on this occasion, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Vietnam Yerlan Baizhanov highlighted the significance of the visit, saying it demonstrates high political trust between the two countries and contributes to promoting multifaceted partnership.
He said this is Mr. Tokayev’s first Vietnam visit in his new position and also the first visit of a Kazakh President to Vietnam in 12 years.
President Tokayev is scheduled to meet with Vietnamese leaders, including Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
He will also visit some provinces, cities, manufacturing enterprises, according to Ambassador Baizhanov.
The two sides are expected to sign more than 10 cooperation agreements, especially a Joint Action Plan to promote economic-trade cooperation and an agreement on visa exemption for citizens of the two countries, he said.
