Koreans to hold talks as North prepares to shut test site

(VOVWORLD) - South and North Korea reportedly plan to hold a high-level meeting on Wednesday in the truce village of Panmunjom to discuss implementation of the “Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Unification of the Korean Peninsula”.

The Declaration was adopted during the historic summit between South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un last month.

North Korea’s 29-member delegation will be led by Ri Son-gwon, chairman of the Committee for Peaceful Reunification. South Korea’s Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon will lead a team of five at the talks.

North Korea have invited eight reporters from the South to observe the dismantling of the Pyunggye-ri nuclear test site next week. South Korea's Ministry of Unification said the dismantlement will be carried out by collapsing all tunnels with an explosion, blocking entrances, and removing observation and research facilities, as well as the guard unit structures on the testing ground.
