(VOVWORLD) -Ukraine on Wednesday downplayed security threats to its capital city Kyiv after several foreign embassies in Kyiv closed temporarily, and called on allies not to fuel tensions inside Ukraine.

Warnings of security threats came one day after Ukraine’s military used American-made ballistic missiles for the first time to strike Russian territory.
Russia accused the US of prolonging the conflict in Ukraine by stepping up weapons deliveries to Kyiv. Russian President Vladimir Putin subsequently approved changes to Russia’s nuclear doctrine to treat any attack by a non-nuclear state that’s supported by a country with nuclear capabilities as a joint attack by both.
Italy, Spain, and Greece announced temporary closures of their embassies in Kyiv on Wednesday, citing threats of an air attack. Germany's embassy in Kyiv remains open in a limited capacity.
