(VOVWORLD) - The Ba Chua Xu (The Lady of the Realm) Festival 2022 opened on Sunday night in Chau Doc city, An Giang province, with a procession of the Statue of the Lady on Sam Mountain to her temple and a washing rite.

Other activities include art performances, folk games, photo exhibits, and a cultural week featuring the Kinh, Khmer, Cham, and Chinese cultures.
The Festival is one of the biggest religious events in the South and was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2002.
In southern Vietnamese culture, the Lady is a protector of the Vietnamese border and a tutelary of prosperity and health.
Held from the 23rd to the 27th day of the fourth lunar month, the Lady of the Realm Festival attracts millions of visitors and pilgrims every year.
