(VOVworld) – Leaders at the 7th Summit of the Americas expressed their strong support for Colombia’s efforts in peace negotiations with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia to end the decades-long conflict. Addressing the summit in Panama City on Saturday, Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff said he hopes the armed conflict in Colombia will end soon.
Argentinean President Cristina Fernandez praised efforts for peace in Colombia which has been fractured for the past half century by fighting that has killed 220,000 civilians and forced 5 million flee their homes.
Cuban President Raul Castro affirmed his continued support to make peace in Colombia a reality.
Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos reviewed the ongoing negotiations with FARC.
