Lawmakers approve dismissal of NA Chairperson
(VOVWORLD) - National Assembly deputies on Tuesday approved the dismissal of National Assembly Chairwoman and Chairperson of the National Election Council Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Elected in 2016, Ms. Ngan, 67, was the first Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly and the first woman to hold a top position in Vietnam.
"As a 2-term deputy, I think the National Assembly has met public expectations. Chairwoman Ngan played a major role in improving the legislature’s performance and achievements," said Deputy Pham Khanh Phong Lan from HCM city.
"She encouraged frank, democratic, and open discussions among deputies. We feel empowered and inspired as representatives of the people,” said Lan.
Lawmakers will elect a new Chairperson for the National Assembly and the National Election Council on Wednesday.
