Libya’s caretaker government resigns
(VOVworld) – Libya’s caretaker Prime Minister Abdullah al-Thanni and his cabinet resigned on Thursday, paving the way for the formation of a new government following the parliamentary election in late June. In a statement, Thanni's cabinet said it resigned in accordance with Libya's constitutional rules to allow the House of Representatives to form a government "representing all Libyan people”. A lawmaker said it is a routine step, confirming that there is no conflict between Thanni and the House of Representatives. The same day, 5 candidates running for the post of Prime Minister were announced, including Thanni, who was appointed to the post in March, and Ashur Shwuail, the former Minister of Internal Affairs.
