The aim of the talks is to form a national unity government during Libya’s transitional period and find a way to halt the violence in Libya. Bernadio León, the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for Libya and Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), said a political solution is the only way to restore peace and stability in Libya. He urged all of Libya’s warring parties to join the UN peace process.
