Ministry of Health and AstraZeneca work on sustainable health system

(VOVWORLD) -A five-year Memorandum of Understanding was signed on Wednesday in Hanoi between the Ministry of Health and AstraZeneca Vietnam for disease prevention and control, pharmaceutical research, development, and production and a sustainable health system.

Cooperation programs include “For healthy lungs”, which aims to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and management of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and lung cancer; a program helping the youth adopt a healthy lifestyle to prevent non-communicable diseases; and CareMe, which aims to consolidate the system caring for cardiovascular, kidney, and metabolic diseases.

The Ministry of Health and AstraZeneca will also cooperate in the second phase of a cooperation program for the sustainability and resilience of Vietnam’s health system; and another on strengthening the capacity of the clinical research and testing system in the country.

Among international pharmaceutical companies AstraZeneca has the most clinical studies in Vietnam as its 60 studies are being carried out in more than 50 hospitals, involving 4,000 patients.
