In 10 days on duty, the team rescued one survivor from the rubble, and found and recovered 14 bodies and turned them over to local health authorities. They also delivered nearly two tons of medical supplies from the Ministry to Turkish authorities.

The team members visited and gave gifts to people severely affected by the earthquake, including some Vietnamese families.

Major Nguyen Van Can, one of the Vietnamese rescuers, said that they brought modern rescue equipment which helped them locate and recover victims.

“In the eyes of international friends, the Vietnamese rescue force has shown professionalism, determination, and capacity,” Can added.

Turkey’s Deputy Chief of Mission to Vietnam Devletsah Yayan extended her deep gratitude to Vietnam for quickly dispatching a rescue team to Turkey.

The Minister of Public Security presented certificates of merit to 24 officers for successfully performing rescue and humanitarian assistance missions in Turkey.
