More aggressive measures taken to combat IUU fishing

(VOVWORLD) -The Government Office has just issued a written conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, requesting more aggressive actions to combat illegal, unregulated and unreported (IUU) fishing.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested that plans and agenda must be carefully prepared before working with the 4th European Commission's inspection team, striving to have the "Yellow Card" warning removed by October 2023.

The ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development, National Defense, Foreign Affairs and relevant localities are required to strictly follow the Prime Minister's direction on the "Action plan against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing."

The Ministry of National Defense shall assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in proposing effective solutions to prevent fishing vessels from violating foreign waters, and radically sanctioning acts of IUU fishing, according to the conclusion.
