The vaccine will be also injected into another 15 volunteers on Thursday.

The first six of 120 volunteers in the first phase of trials for COVIVAC took their shots last Monday. They are now in stable health and working as normal after their health was checked on Monday. They will receive their second shots 28 days after the first.

The Institute of Vaccines and Medical Biologicals (IVAC), which developed the vaccine, used primary chicken embryo cell culture — a technique it used previously to successfully produce seasonal flu vaccines.

The second phase of human trials of NanoCovax, Vietnam’s first COVID-19 vaccine began late last month.
