(VOVworld) – The National Assembly adopted on Thursday a resolution on its supervision program in 2016. Under this resolution, NA deputies will discuss reports regarding the 13th National Assembly meeting results, reports from the President, the National Assembly’s Standing Committee, the Prime Minister, Chief Justice of the People’s Supreme Court, Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy, and the Auditor General of Vietnam’s State Audit. Lawmakers will also discuss reports on settling voters’ petitions and the elections of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and People’s Councils for the 2016-2021 term. The implementation of the national new rural development program over the 2015-2020 period in line with agricultural restructuring will be included in the 2016 oversight program.

Regarding the draft Law on Charges and Fees, lawmakers agreed on the necessity to promulgate the law to address shortcomings in the existing Ordinance on Charges and Fees to meet socio-economic development requirements and encourage all economic sectors to get involved in providing public services.
National Assembly deputies suggested more specific regulations on the exemption of charges and fees to ensure equality and transparency and cohesion once the law is put into practice. Nguyen Van Canh, a deputy for Ninh Binh province, said: "National Assembly deputies are those representing people’s aspirations. Therefore, it’s more appropriate that the National Assembly or the National Assembly’s Standing Committee instead of the government to decide who should be exempt from charges and fees. I agree that the government should decide the rate of charges and fees to meet socio-economic development requirements in different periods."
Many deputies agreed on the compilation of the Law on Charges and Fees to avoid overlapping of fees and charges to reduce people’s burdens.
