In a recent media interview about cooperation between the two legislatures and the significance of Mr. Man’s visit, Soramoto Seiki, a member of the Japanese House of Representatives, said people-to-people exchanges between the two countries is in its best period ever. In this context, the two legislatures continue to strengthen and deepen the close ties between their members.

Soramoto Seiki said: “The two legislatures have made substantive institutional and policy contributions to bilateral ties, but Japan will not stop there. Japan will continue to enhance cooperation and deepen bilateral relations, and its legislators will continue to expand collaboration.”

Soramoto said signing the Japan-Vietnam Economic Partnership Agreement (JVEPA) in 2009 took economic ties to new heights. To bolster co-operation and people-to-people exchanges, he suggested that the two countries expand their training of human resources.

“The two legislatures should work out measures to create the necessary legal foundations for future cooperation. I have my own plans to ramp up Japanese cooperation with Vietnam and will continue to boost ties between the two legislative bodies and strengthen connections between agencies to achieve our common goals,” Soramoto added.

Soramoto said Japan has high hopes for National Assembly Chairman Man’s visit. In addition to promoting people-to-people exchanges, Japan hopes Mr. Man will engage in in-depth and specific discussions with Japan about industrial, scientific, and technological cooperation and ways to enhance links in those areas.
