(VOVWORLD) - Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan met with Belarusian Prime Minister Sergey Nikolayevich Rumas on Friday as part of her ongoing official visit to the European country.

The Belarusian Prime Minister described Vietnam as a friend and strategic partner of Belarus in Southeast Asia as the country’s socio-economic development strategies are completely compatible and similar to those of Belarus such as technological reform and high-tech development. He proposed Vietnam grant licenses for Belarus to export meat, milk and agricultural products to the Southeast Asian market.
The Prime Minister recommended promoting cooperation in automobile manufacturing. Chairwoman Ngan suggested the two sides cooperate in such potential fields as farm produce processing, agricultural machines, and automobile assembly and production.
The top legislator expressed her hope that Belarus will facilitate Vietnam in increasing the export of its traditional products to the European country. Both leaders shared information on Belarus’ plan to set up a dairy joint venture in Vietnam and the possibility of a direct air route to boost tourism cooperation.
The same day, the National Assembly Chairwoman visited and laid a wreath at the Minsk Monument and met Vietnamese embassy staff and community representatives as well as Belarusian veterans who fought in Vietnam.
