NA Deputy Chairwoman concludes US visit

(VOVworld) – National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan ended her US visit Wednesday which aims to step up bilateral legislative, economic and security cooperation. During her week-long visit, Ms. Ngan met several US officials and businesspeople, including Senator John McCain, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Armed Services, Senator Ron Wyden and Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

They discussed the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement, peace, stability, and maritime safety and security in the region. The US officials hailed Vietnam’s significant reform progress that has earned international plaudits. Ms. Ngan praised the US Congress, government, and businesses for backing stronger cooperative ties with Vietnam while reiterating Vietnam’s commitment to enhancing its comprehensive partnership with the US. She suggested both countries speed up the TPP negotiations for an early signing of the trade deal, and intensify exchange visits in the future.
