NA Standing Committee convenes 9th meeting

(VOVworld) – The 9th session of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee opened today in Hanoi to review the results of the 3rd meeting of the 13th National Assembly and discuss the preparations for the 4th meeting. The delegates agreed that the draft laws and resolutions submitted to the National Assembly were well prepared and should benefit most voters as well as being in line with socio-economic development and international integration. They added that supervisory activities have been continuously reformed, satisfying the voters and people nationwide, while the Q&A sessions have addressed many top issues raised by voters and NA deputies across the country.

In its preparations for the 4th meeting of the 13th NA, committee members reached a consensus that only well-prepared contents should be included on the meeting’s agenda. The NA’s Standing Committee will be in charge of handling the opinions put forward by the NA deputies and voters, while the government and NA agencies are being asked to deal better with issues within their remit in preparations for NA’s forth coming meetings.
NA chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, who chairs the meeting, stated that the 3rd meeting’s biggest achievement was to make the people aware of the Party, State, and government’s activities, over the past year, to create trust and sharing between the people, the Party, the State and the government, during this difficult period. He said: "The biggest success of the previous meeting was making people understand that the party, state and government is working effectively, while creating trust amongst the public by holding meetings with voters. The next meeting will focus on drawing up legislation and the issuing of Resolutions on the socio-economy and various laws."

Chairman Hung stressed that this is the year’s end session and it is important to identify the countries’ current circumstances to appraise the outcomes since beginning the national socio-economic development Plans over the last 2 years. High on the agenda were a number of programs and draft laws that still need to be approved including the Draft Law on Land. Chairman Hung asked all agencies to prepare well for the next NA meeting.
Later the same day, the cabinet discussed revised Draft Ordinance, adding some articles to the Ordinance for People who rendered great service to the country’s revolution, as various activities take place nationwide to pay tribute to martyrs, heroes, and war veterans, to mark War invalids and Martyrs’ Day on July 27. The delegates focused their discussions on enforcing the laws and regulations on preferential policies for former revolutionaries affected by agent orange dioxin. They also agreed on the establishment of Ba Ria City in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.
