NA Standing Committee discusses socio-economic development
(VOVworld) – The National Assembly Standing Committee on Friday discussed the implementation of socio-economic development programs and the state budget for this year.
The 5-year development program until 2015 and plans for the next 2 years also topped the agenda. The deputies praised government policies to control inflation and stabilize social order and the market. They also, however, stressed that the economy still faces many challenges, which affect the completion of a number of targets. Head of the National Assembly’s Finance and Budget Committee, Phung Quoc Hien said: “The National Assembly’s target is to have the economy restructured by 2015. This target needs to be adjusted with priority given to stabilizing the macro-economy and restoring economic growth. Proper adjustments and solutions are needed to restructure the economy, particularly in the state-owned enterprises.
National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung called for closer observation of economic developments so that more accurate assessments will be made. He also stressed that achievements in national defense, external relations and international integration should be emphasized.
