The committee urged the government to thoroughly prepare socio-economic development scenarios both short term and long term.

Vietnam gained important achievements last year, said Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has adversely affected Vietnam’s economy in the first four months of this year, he added. National Assembly General Secretary Nguyen Hanh Phuc urged for plans to attract investment.

"Investment attraction is of great importance and should be done selectively with a priority given to high-tech projects and projects that Vietnam needs. Investment attraction should go hand in hand with administrative reform while ensuring transparency and efficiency," said Mr. Phuc.

Delegates called for stricter control of Covid-19 transmission from overseas and quick and transparent implementation of stimulus packages for economic development and social security.
