National Assembly approves 11 laws, 17 resolutions at 8th session

(VOVWORLD) -The 8th session of the National Assembly closed on Wednesday.

Addressing the closing session, Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan reviewed major outcomes, including the approval of 11 laws and 17 resolutions. She said: “The approved laws and resolutions are important legal foundation to protect civil rights and obligations for social economic development, national defense and international integration as well as harmonious labor relations, efficient state administration to better serve the public.”

Chairwoman Ngan said that the session has initiated practical solutions to ensure social economic development next year. She added: “Next year is the last in the implementation of the Party resolution on social economic development strategy in 2011-2020 and the building of the next 5 year plan. We will hold major political  events and positions, including the UN Security Council non-permanent membership, the ASEAN Chairmanship and the 41st ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA 41) Chairmanship. This will require an all-out effort of the whole Party, people and army to complete the tasks.”

Earlier on Wednesday, National Assembly deputies discussed the draft law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Construction Law. Law makers expected the amendment to address investment difficulties in construction and ensure a competitive environment to avoid wastefulness, especially in state funded projects. Le Quang Tri, who represents Tien Giang province, said: “This is a foundation for law enforcement agencies to address breaches of urban construction regulations and avoid wasteful destruction. The amendment also cover application of  technology in quality control at construction sites.”

In the afternoon, the deputies voted on several resolutions, including the resolution on piloting the urban administration model in Hanoi, the resolution approving the Supplementary Treaty to the  Treaty on the Delimitation of the National Boundary and the  Supplementary Treaty between Vietnam and Cambodia, and the Protocol on the Demarcation and Marker Planting of the Land Boundary between Vietnam and Cambodia.
