National database on war martyrs, cemeteries to be completed by 2020
(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Defence held an online conference on Friday to review the implementation of projects on searching, gathering, and identifying war martyr remains.

The conference was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, who heads the National Steering Committee on the Search and Repatriation of Remains of Fallen Soldiers.
The participants called on the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to provide an instruction of DNA sample selection for analysis and verification. Lieutenant General Do Can, deputy head of the General Political Department under the Ministry of Defence, said: “A national data base on war martyrs, thier graves and relatives and martyr cemeteries must be completed by 2020. We have finished maping for searching and gathering martyr remains, identifying unknown remains and setting up a DNA database center which is expected to seek and repatriate from 1,500 to 2,000 remains and identify 500 others each year”.
