National Halal Conference seeks potential partners from Muslim market

(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam will coordinate with the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to organize the first national Halal conference in Hanoi next Tuesday, said the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry at its regular press conference on Thursday.

According to Pham Thu Hang, the conference aims to promote internal strength and international cooperation to sustainably develop Vietnam's Halal industry.

“The conference will focus on the ways to promote internal strength and enhance international cooperation. It will encourage countries and organizations to share experience in developing the Halal industry, make recommendations for Vietnam to develop the industry, open the market for Vietnam's Halal products, and work outthe development orientation for Vietnam's Halal industry and localities,” said Hang.

She noted, “The conference also aims to increase  negotiations towards signing Halal cooperation agreements between local agencies of Vietnam and potential partners.”

The conference is expected to attract 500 domestic and foreign delegates. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend and deliver a speech at the event.

The number of Muslims in 2024 will reach more than 2 billion people, accounting for nearly 25% of the world’s population and is expected to reach around 2.8 billion people by 2050. The global Halal economy is forecast to reach 10 trillion USD by 2028.
