(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s top leaders paid homage to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum in Hanoi on Friday to mark Vietnam’s 73rd National Day on September 2.

The delegation included Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan along with a number of former Party and State leaders.

The delegation also laid flowers at the Monument for Heroic Martyrs in Bac Son Street.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc paid incense tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at House 67 in the Presidential Palace in Hanoi on Friday to mark the 49th death anniversary of the President and 49 years of implementing his testament.

In House 67, where President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked during the last days of his life, Prime Minister Phuc offered incense to the great leader and national hero, who dedicated his life for national independence and freedom and for people’s happiness.

The diplomatic missions of Vietnam in Cambodia, South Africa, and Hong Kong (China) also hosted banquets on Thursday in celebration of National Day.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Vu Quang Minh said: “Vietnam and Cambodia are close neighbors with long-standing solidarity and friendship nurtured by generations of leaders and citizens. Bilateral economic, trade and investment ties have been growing rapidly, making Vietnam one of Cambodia’s leading partners.”

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo sent a letter of congratulations to the Vietnamese people on the occasion.
