National Resistance Day celebrated

(VOVworld)-A grand meeting to mark 70 years of National Resistance Day took place in Hanoi on Sunday with the participation of Vietnam’s top leaders and revolutionary veterans. Addressing the event, Hanoi Party Secretary Hoang Trung Hai highlighted the significance of the national resistance launched on December 19, 1946, against the French.

“During the resistance, the entire Vietnamese people upheld patriotism and the spirit of ‘Sacrificing for the sake of the Fatherland’ to create an aggregate strength for an all-people war for national independence and freedom”, Mr. Hai said.

Secretary Hoang Trung Hai noted that National Resistance Day has inspired Hanoi authorities and people to work harder for the capital city’s development:

“We’ll continue to improve the growth quality and model, mobilize all internal and external resources and increase the economy’s self-reliance. Economic development must be closely associated with social equality, cultural development, environmental protection, response to climate change and the building of new-style rural areas”, stressed the municipal Party Secretary.
