(VOVworld) – The 4th national festival on Then singing and Tinh instrument opened Sunday in the northern province of Lang Son, honoring the traditional music and zither of the Tay, Nung, and Thai ethnic groups. During the 5-day festival visitors explore a cultural space of the northern mountain region through unique tunes of Then singing and Tinh instrument performed by hundreds of artists.

Vy Van Thanh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee, spoke at the opening ceremony: The national festival on Then singing and Tinh instrument is part of efforts to preserve and promote traditional arts. It creates an opportunity for artists and artisans to exchange Then melodies representing different localities and introduce the genre to more Vietnamese people and international friends.
Besides art performances, the festival will also include an exhibition of Then culture featuring artifacts, photos, instruments, and costumes and a seminar on preserving and promoting the art in the modern age.
