(VOVworld) - NATO plans to deploy five bases in Eastern Europe in the context of escalating crisis in Ukraine, the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung reported on Sunday.

The bases are planned in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Romania, and Poland. According to the plan, up to 600 servicemen will be stationed on each base. In addition, NATO will have a strong rapid reaction force including 4,000 soldiers ready to deploy to crisis areas within two to seven days.
