NATO spokesperson Oana Lungescu said in a statement on Thursday that Turkey’s NATO membership is not in question. NATO counts on the continued contributions of Turkey and Turkey can count on the solidarity and support of the alliance.
One day earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited Russia. The meeting fueled speculation that Turkey's improved relationship with Russia will weaken its strong ties with the West.
