Albanese was speaking at the Quad Summit in Japan on Tuesday, which was also attended by US President Joe Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Indian Prime Minister Narenda Modi.

PM Albanese said the new Australian government will continue to work closely with the countries and the Quartet, especially on new government priority issues.

“My government is committed to working with your countries and we are committed to the Quad. The new Australian government's priorities align with the Quad's agenda taking action on climate change; building a stronger and more resilient Indo-Pacific region through better economic security, better cyber security and better energy security, and better environmental and health security,” he said.

Prime Minister Albanese pledged that the Australian government would hold firmly to its values and beliefs to promote cooperation and bring prosperity and stability to the Indo-Pacific region.
