New UNDP data shows gender biases remain entrenched

(VOVWORLD) - The latest Gender Social Norms Index (GSNI) report has revealed there has been no improvement in biases against women in a decade, as cultural biases continue to hinder women's empowerment and make it difficult for the world to achieve the UN's goal of gender equality by 2030.

The report highlights that despite growing social movements and women's rights groups,  prejudiced social norms and the human development crisis exacerbated by COVID-19 have caused women to lose income.

Half of the worldwide population still believes that men make better political leaders than women, and 43% believe men make better business executives than women.

Many experts said that gender stereotypes and social norms need to be changed, but the ultimate goal is to change the power relations between men and women, as well as between people.
