Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da victory celebrated in Hanoi

(VOVWORLD) - A celebration to mark the 230th anniversary of Ngọc Hồi–Đống Đa victory against Chinese Qing invaders took place on Saturday morning, the fifth day of the Lunar New Year.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended the annual festival held at Dong Da Cultural Park in Hanoi’s Dong Da District to mark the event and to celebrate the site receiving a certification recognizing the Dong Da Mound as a special national historical relic. Chairman of the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung highlighted the great significance of the Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da victory under the leadership of Emperor Quang Trung 230 years ago, during which over 20,000 Qing troops were defeated, liberating the imperial city of Thang Long and regaining national independence and freedom. The victory in 1789 marked a milestone in Vietnam’s history, reflecting the country’s great unity and strong will to defeat any invaders.

Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and Head of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee's Commission for Information and Education Vo Van Thuong on Friday offered incense and laid wreaths to commemorate the Tay Son troops and open a festival to celebrate the 230th anniversary of the Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da victory in Binh Dinh province’s Tay Son district. On this occasion, Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh presented Tet gifts and bicycles to disadvantaged people and students in Tay Son district’s Vinh An commune.
