No new COVID-cases on September 5 morning

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam reported no new COVID-19 on Saturday morning, keeping the national count at 1,049, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

The figure includes 691 locally-transmitted cases, with 551 related to the outbreak in the central city of Da Nang. A total of 786 patients have been given the all-clear. Meanwhile, there have been 35 fatalities so far. Most of the fatalities were the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

According to worldometer.info, there were 26.8 million COVID-19 infections worldwide by Saturday noon, of which 880,000 have died.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Europe were 3.7 million, up 35,000 from yesterday. 209,000 patients died of the coronavirus. In Europe, Russia is the hardest-hit country with over one million cases, followed by Spain. France recorded the highest spike in a single day yesterday, raising its transmission tally to 309,000.
