The projectiles traveled from 70km to 200km towards the Sea of Japan. South Korea’s presidential Blue House said it was monitoring the situation and closely sharing information with the US. White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders said the US will continue to monitor North Korea’s action. Japan’s Ministry of Defense said the launch is not an immediate threat to its national security.

The Saturday launch came after US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s telephone talk on global issues, including North Korea. North Korea has criticized the US for its military exercise regarding the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) deployed in South Korea last year, calling it a military provocation and a public threat to North Korea.
