North Korea launches missile off its east coast

(VOVWORLD) - North Korea launched a missile off its east coast on Thursday, its third missile test this week, the South Korean military said, as US Vice President Kamala Harris wrapped up a day-long visit to South Korea to meet South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and visit the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ).

The Kyodo news agency quoted the Japanese Ministry of Defense as saying that the missile North Korea launched could be a ballistic missile. The missile is believed to have landed outside Japan's Exclusive Economic Zone. No damage from the missile has been reported.

North Korea's latest launch came just as South Korea and the US concluded a high-level military exercise involving the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan.

North Korea fired one short-range ballistic missile last weekend and two short-range ballistic missiles into its eastern sea on Wednesday.
