The state media said the aim of the test was a final confirmation of the combustion chamber, the accuracy of valves and control systems, and the structural reliability of the engine. The engine tested will give North Korea "sufficient carrier capability for launching various kinds of satellites, including an Earth observation satellite at a world level". North Korean leader Kim Jong-un supervised the test at the Sohae satellite-launching site, where he called for additional satellite launch tests at the earliest possible time.
