(VOVWORLD) - North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho said on Friday that North Korea might test a hydrogen bomb (H-bomb) in the Pacific as a countermeasure to the US.

The statement came after North Korean President Kim Jong-un warned of the “highest level” retaliation after US President Donald Trump told the UN General Assembly that the US will “totally destroy North Korea” if it is forced to defend itself or its allies. Minister Ri said it could be the most powerful detonation of an H-bomb in the Pacific, and further actions will be ordered by leader Kim Jong-un.
Mr. Kim has said Mr. Trump’s threats convinced him that Pyongyang’s nuclear program is the right path.
