Northern central provinces respond to storm and rains

(VOVWORLD) - Storm Noul has claimed one dead, one missing and more than 100 injured. More than 22,500 houses were roofed off and hundreds of hectares of rice fields and fruit gardens were damaged. 

The storm has caused heavy rains and floods in the provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh. Thanh Hoa provincial leaders have asked local authorities to stay high alert and keep timely communications with people to cope with flash floods and landslides. Deputy Chairman of Ha Tinh provincial People’s Committee Dang Ngoc Son said that all households in flood and landslide prone areas have been informed of the risks and offered assistance. In Nghe An province, pumping stations have been put in peak operation to improve drainage capacity following torrential rains.
