During their 4-day visit, Hang briefed OVs on recent developments in Vietnam and addressed some of their concerns about the revised Land Law, the Law on Nationality, and issues related to islands, programs for OVs, and human resources.
OVs were informed about activities organized in Vietnam for the Vietnamese community abroad, including Spring Homeland, visits to Truong Sa Island, and summer camps for OV youth.
The delegation also worked with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Vancouver, the Vietnam-Canada Business Association, and the 88 Supermarket chain, which helps many Vietnamese enterprises export their goods to Canada.
According to Deputy Minister Hang, OVs made specific proposals to connect Canadian and Vietnamese businesses, provide vocational training to Vietnamese wishing to work in Canada, and establish professional associations for Vietnamese people in Canada.
