Overseas Vietnamese Association to be established in Belgium

(VOVworld) The Vietnamese government always creates the most favorable conditions for overseas Vietnamese to invest in and contribute to the development of their homeland. Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Thanh Son made the statement during a meeting with overseas Vietnamese residents and students living in Belgium on Tuesday in Brussels.

Regarding East Sea issues, Deputy Minister Son said that the contributions made by overseas Vietnamese have significantly improved the living conditions of soldiers and staff who are working to protect the Truong Sa or Spratly archipelago. He added that the government will organize sight-seeing trips to Spratly archipelago for the overseas Vietnamese from mid March to the end of April next year. He also expressed the wish to establish a general association of overseas Vietnamese in Belgium to promote unity among the overseas Vietnamese there. The meeting elected 14 members to prepare for the establishment of the Association in Belgium. There are currently 12,000 Vietnamese people living in Belgium.
