On Sunday, Vietnamese people in Russia gathered in Moscow and Saint Petersburg for the commemoration. Nguyen Quoc Hung, Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Russia, said Vietnamese people met on the Hung Kings' death anniversary to remember their mythical origin as descendants of the dragon and fairy, thus making them feel more proud and united to surmount all the difficulties to live a good life and contribute to Vietnam’s development.
“As a Vietnamese national living far away from the homeland for so long, I think the commemoration of the Hung King’s death anniversary held outside of Vietnam is of great significance as it reminds us of our roots and spreads the affection among Vietnamese people,” Hung said.
A similar event was held in Berlin, Germany, the same day. Pham Quynh Nga, editor-in-chief of the newspaper Viet-bao.de and chief organizer of the Hung Kings’ death anniversary, said she and other Vietnamese people in Germany, is honored to be the major host in Europe of the Vietnam Ancestral Global Day. The event brought together Vietnamese organizations, associations, and clubs and international friends, an evidence for the solidarity and consensus of all 200,000 Vietnamese in Germany, Nga said.
The Hung Kings’ death anniversary was also remembered in Udon Thani province, Thailand.
