Overseas Vietnamese speak out against China’s actions

(VOVworld) – The Vietnamese People’s Association in France (UGVF) on Tuesday voiced its opposition to China’s illegal placement of an oil rig in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, saying that China is trespassing Vietnam’s territorial waters. The Association asked China to respect Vietnam’s sovereignty. The same day, the Vietnamese community in Malaysia said China’s actions violate the international law.

The Vietnamese community in Ukraine held a march in front of the Chinese embassy in Kiev, shouting slogans in Vietnamese, Ukrainian, English, and Chinese insisting that Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos belong to Vietnam. They called on China to abide by international law, and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea, and to immediately withdraw its rig from Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.

The Vietnam Business Association in Australia issued a statement denouncing China’s actions and calling for support from Vietnamese and international friends worldwide.
