(VOVWORLD) - Israeli sources said Thursday that the Palestinian Authority (PA) has ended security coordination with Israel because of new Israeli plans to annex parts of the West Bank.

In addition to security and intelligence cooperation, civil ties between Israel and the PA will also cease.

Israeli defense officials warned that ending cooperation between the two sides may lead to more violence and clashes between Israeli troops and Palestinians.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Benny Gantz had agreed that Israel can begin West Bank annexation on July 1.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said the two countries’ security cooperation will be terminated because it is clear that Israel no longer wants to abide by bilateral peace agreements.
