Palestine to sue Israel at ICJ

(VOVworld) - Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki on Saturday said Palestine would sue Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for war crimes it committed in the Gaza Strip. He added that Palestine will soon be a sovereign state and that is enough for the court to start an investigation. Malki was in The Hague before visiting Colombia to attend the sworn in ceremony of the Colombian President Juan Manuel on Thursday, to ask the ICJ to start an official investigation, to see if what Israel has done in the past month reaches the level of war crimes.

Tension has re-escalated after a humanitarian truce ended and concerned parties are striving for a new ceasefire. Violence in the gaza strip has claimed 1900 Palestinian lives, mostly civilians, including hundreds of children.
