(VOVworld)- The 11th Party Central Committee convened its 14th meeting in Hanoi on Monday. Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong delivered an opening speech. President Truong Tan Sang on behalf of the Politburo facilitated the opening session. In the morning, the delegates discussed the Politburo report on the outcomes of the negotiations and signing of the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement presented by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong asked Committee members to scrutinize the TPP negotiations’ outcomes and analyze the trade deal’s impacts. He asked participants to give opinions on the official signing of the TPP and the submission of the pact to the National Assembly for approval.  Vietnam and 11 other Asian-Pacific countries concluded more than five years of negotiations on the TPP on October 5, 2015. The deal is a new-generation free trade agreement (FTA) with requirements much stricter than existing FTAs.
In the afternoon session, facilitated by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, the delegates discussed the Politburo report on personnel preparations for the Party Central Committee, the Party Politburo, and the Party Secretariat and nominations for 4 key posts of the 12th tenure. They also discussed the nomination lists of the Presidium, the Secretariat and the Committee for Appraising Delegates of the 12th National Party Congress. Regarding personnel issues, Party leader Trong said: "Following the outcomes of the two previous meetings of the Party Central Committee, the sub-committee on personnel and the Politburo are to propose additional special candidates who are members of the 11th Party Central Committee for positions in the Politburo and Party Secretariat in the 12th tenure. I call on participants to thoroughly consider the Politburo’s proposals, appraise and complete the 11th Party Central Committee’s personnel-related report set to be submitted to the 12th National Party Congress, scheduled for later this month. Nominations to the 4 key leading positions for the 12th tenure will also need to be made.”

Mr. Trong noted that the 14th meeting is of critical importance as it will decide the final preparations for the 12th National Party Congress.
