(VOVworld) - The 13^th Party congress of the southern city of Can Tho opened on Thursday gathering 350 delegates representing the city’s 42,000 Party members.

Permanent member of the Party Secretariat, Le Hong Anh, praised the city’s social economic achievements and its contribution to regional development as a hub city in the Mekong Delta: “Can Tho City should pioneer the region in industrialization and modernization to become an industrial city by 2020. It must attract more investment, human resources and economic sectors while promoting economic infrastructure.”
Also on Thursday, Bac Ninh province opened its 19^th Party Congress. Head of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission, To Huy Rua, asked Bac Ninh province to link economic growth with comprehensive development in culture, society and human resources.
He called for more job creation, social welfare policies, poverty reduction and the preservation of local heritages: “Bac Ninh should promote economic restructuring and change its growth model towards improving comparative advantages, competitiveness and economic performance. I hope that more local concentration of high tech, supportive and electronic industries to develop a modern industrial level.”
