Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passes away
(VOVWORLD) - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong, born in 1944, passed away at 1:38 pm on Friday at Central Military Hospital 108 after a period of illness, according to the Specialised Council for Protection of Central-level Officials' Health.
Despite the dedicated treatment from the Party, State, professors, and doctors and the wholehearted care from his family, General Secretary Trong succumbed to his illness due to his advanced age and severe condition. He was 80.
A special communique on the organization of the State Funeral for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will be issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
