Party leader meets Japanese Emperor

(VOVworld) – Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong met with Japanese Emperor Akihito on Wednesday. They expressed pleasure at the development of relations between Vietnam and Japan in recent years and agreed to deepen the two countries’ extensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia.

Earlier, Mr. Trong received the President of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Ishighe Hiroyuki. He hoped that JETRO would support Japanese businesses to invest in agriculture and prioritized industries in Vietnam, helping Vietnamese agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products to access the Japanese market.

On the same day, Mr. Trong received Ken Matsuzawa, President of Japan’s Public Diplomacy Council. He said he hoped that the Council would continue to help Vietnam in promoting human resource development cooperation, agricultural and industrial cooperation, people-to-people exchanges, and cooperation between Vietnamese and Japanese localities.
Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong also met with leaders of 4 Japanese investment groups: Sumitomo, Misubishi, Taisei, and Mitsubishi Omiya Hideaki. These groups have investment, production, and business projects in Vietnam. Mr. Trong valued the economic groups’ investments in Vietnam in recent years, which contributed significantly to Vietnam’s economic development. He asked them to cooperate with Vietnam in high technology transfer, infrastructure building, and energy. He said that Vietnam would continue to improve its business and investment environment and create stable conditions for Japanese short and long term investments.
