Party leader pays state visit to Cuba

(VOVWORLD) -Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong left Paris on Wednesday to pay a state visit to Cuba at the invitation of First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba’s Central Committee and President of the Councils of State and Ministers Raul Castro Ruz.

Mr. Trong’s 5th visit to Cuba and 2nd visit as Party leader sends a message of solidarity and friendship of Vietnam for the Cuban Party, State and people amid the transfer of leaders’ generation and continued implementation of socio-economic model updates in Cuba. 

Cuban media has extensively covered the State visit to Cuba by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong from Wednesday to Friday. 

Granma, the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of Cuba and the biggest daily newspaper in Cuba, ran an article about the past struggle for national liberation of the Vietnamese people and the role of the late President Ho Chi Minh in the world’s progressive movements.

Meanwhile, the Prensa Latina News Agency had interviews with Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Nguyen Trung Thanh and Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Lianys Torres. Both diplomats agreed that Party General Secretary Trong’s visit is a historic milestone in the Vietnam-Cuba relationship. The visit will tighten bilateral relations while opening up new opportunities for cooperation, especially in economics. Prensa Latina also published several articles to highlight achievements Vietnam has recorded in its Doi Moi (Renewal) process.
